Mrs Danvers returns to action

Our star of 2016 Mrs Danvers returned to racecourse action after an absence of over a year in the hotly contested 16 runner Listed Lansdown Stakes over 5f.

She broke well and travelled well, holding her own in what was a predictably blistering pace. At the half way stage it looked like she was still running a big race but inside the last furlong and a half she was noticeably fading and was soon eased by Richard Kingscote to finish 11th.

We expected her to come on for the race and get tired given her injury induced lay off and more sympathetic training than she was put under as a two year old but we were none the less a little disappointed with the result.Richard reported that she gave him a very positive feel and she was moving great but did not truly respond under pressure in the way we became accustomed to in her two year old days.

So we will have a long hard think and chat with owner/breeders the Burtons as to the next step and what is in the best interest of Mrs Danvers, who is still and always will be a star in our eyes.
