Farewell to Mild Illusion and Goodnight Girl
On a frosty dark evening at Tattersalls in Newmarket we said goodbye to our star two year old Mild Illusion as she was sold to Tally Ho Stud for 160,000 guineas where one assumes she will sent to one of their stallions in the spring.
Just over a year ago she was walking around the same auction ring as a yearling and bought by us for just 1000 guineas so this was a welcome mark up. Especially as there have been three wins in between including the Bosra Sham Stakes (Listed) at Newmarket and some £60k or so in prizemoney.
Fillies like that who never stop giving are very hard to replace and much missed so we must hope for the good fortune to find others like her. Departed head lad Gordon Storrie broke her in here at the yard, apprentice Tyler Saunders has ridden her latterly in most of her important exercise. Sean Cusack has looked after her and plenty of others have played an important part in her success and welfare so a big thanks to them. Likewise to the Old Stoic Racing Club who stepped in to lease her for this journey.
At the same sale three time winner Goodnight Girl sold for 50,000 guineas. She has been a lovely filly to have and this was Alex Chesterman’s first horse kindly put in in training with us.
